My No Poo Journey: Hey Hey!

Image
I know what y'all are thinkin'! She gave up on the No Poo thing, didn't she? She couldn't handle it, could she? Well, I've got news for you! I'm still with it! I have not used commercial shampoo or conditioner since March 22, 2014! I'm still LOVING it! My hair is crazy voluminous, insanely soft, blindingly shiny... Ok, yeah. Enough with that! But anyways... I love it. I'm not a No Poo hater! I'm a lover!  Here's some pictures! This was taken on April 17, 2014 after a shower and my hair naturally drying This was taken on April 28, 2014 during the day This was taken TODAY! April 29, 2014... I took a shower last night.  I don't have time to really do my hair... so you get the real deal! Lately I've been skipping washing (not showers!) and I have been getting 3-4 days before I even notice a SLIGHT bit of greasiness. Before starting No Poo I was getting 1-2 days in-between washing and my hair was a total grease ball.  ...

Boys... Will be Boys!

Our oldest Sloan child had quite the eventful Easter and week after. It has taken me awhile to write this blog post. Life has been hella crazy! Sunday was Easter Sunday. We had a really nice day with Church... an absolutely wonderful testimony and service! After church we walked over to the VFW for an awesome breakfast! Baby Girl chowed down some eggs! Bentley saw the Easter Bunny and WAS NOT afraid of him this time! He was terrified of the one at the mall! After breakfast the kids ran around the church yard playing tag, then we visited the In-Laws for some backyard pictures since it was absolutely gorgeous outside and then headed home for some yard work and horsin' around!  After a fun-filled day we made plans to had a fun-filled night with our friends and their kids. We have 4 kids between us, 4 years, 3.5 years, 2.5 years and 8 months. The older 3 were running around outside while E and I talked outside and played with Bailey and the guys were ...

When Will You Stop?

Image
This subject is passionate to me... and really, it's NO ONE'S business when we will stop. The only people it concerns is me, my child, her brother and her daddy... So a conversation happened the other night... "When will you stop nursing her?" "When she's done... it's up to her. But my ultimate goal is and has always been one year." "A year?! Really?!" "Yeah... why would I stop any time before then? Breast milk or formula needs to be their main source of nutrition until at least one year. So why would I stop before a year anyways?" "Well, she will bite when she gets teeth..." "She has teeth already... she doesn't bite... if she does, she gets set down on the floor for a few minutes while I explain that she doesn't bite. She RARELY bites... so that argument is invalid." **person walks away** Why is it that once a BABY reaches 6 months that people no longer view that c...

Getting Fit While Breastfeeding: It's Been Awhile

So I thought I would update everyone on my progress! I'm still doing Zumba once a week but soon I will be going twice a week! Ben's new class schedule for May is Monday's and Wednesday's so I'll be able to go every Tuesday and Thursday while Ben stays home with the kids! I'm really looking forward to that! I thought I would go ahead and take some progress pictures tonight! I'm kind of excited with what I see. I was really down on myself last week because I gained some weight... but I think I found the culprit. Good ole Aunt Flo... After 17 glorious months without a visit from this Red Headed Bitch, she decided to visit me today. So my weight gain last week could have been from that.  What I have to remember is I'm not doing to this to lose weight, I'm doing this to feel good about myself, to feel good as a wife and to feel good as a mother. This, along with my Greens , is helping me with energy levels, my motivation levels and with my positi...

When We Know Better, We Do Better

Car Seat Safety It's a passion of mine. That's not a secret. Friends message me daily asking for car seat advice, they send me pictures to make sure they are buckling their children properly. I have people drive to my house so that I can install their car seat and adjust the straps on their seats to make sure they are doing it properly 100% of the time.  I'm not a CPST... yet. Let me make that clear. I have plans to take my courses, but I have not yet done them. Hopefully soon I can say I'm certified, but for now it's just because I'm a mom who has a passion for keeping my children safe 100% of the time while traveling in a motor vehicle. But, did you know I've not always been a car seat "know it all?" Did you know I used to make A LOT of deadly mistakes? Did you know that I once used aftermarket products? Did you know that my straps did not always pass the pinch test? Did you know that I didn't always place the CHEST clip on t...
