Informed Choice and Asserting Your Rights

Image
Hey there, sister! Welcome back! I’m excited to see you here again for another topic!  Today I want to talk a bit about Informed Choice versus Informed Consent. Did you know there’s a difference? Not every medical professional or even midwife wants you to know that there’s a difference or that there’s always more than one choice!  So let’s talk about it!  Most care providers only operate out of “Informed Consent”, if they care about your consent at all. Consent simply means: yes or no to a choice but it certainly does not mean you’ve been given the full list of options available to you!  Informed Choice means that every aspect of your care is your CHOICE! That you have been provided the full spectrum of options. Your care provider should care enough to take you through your options, one by one, and educate you on every option, negative and positive.  This is the way of the autonomous woman when you’re presented with a choice. Who Am I and Why Am I Here?!

Hey there, sister! Brandy, here! I am so glad that you’ve found your way to my little corner of the world! It’s no coincidence that you’re here and I’m really excited to get to know you and walk this incredibly transformative journey with you! A little about myself! I’m a “truckers wife” to my incredibly supportive and hardworking husband, Norman, and I’m a homeschooling mama to five wild and free kids! I’m a foster-to-adopt mama, a babywearing mama, an extended breastfeeding mama, a cloth diapering mama. A holistic, low-tox lifestyle is my focus as I raise my children outside of the system. Little by little I am adding more homesteading and homemaking skills to my tool belt, skills that my ancestors thrived on but were lost in today’s mainstream culture of streamlined convenience. Returning back to the roots of our ancestors, I like to say! When I’m not studying about birth, supporting clients with their health goals and birthing goals or attending births; I am enjoying days with ...

Book Review: Indie Birth: A Story of Radical Birth Love

Indie Birth: A Story of Radical Birth Love By Maryn Green and Margo Blackstone “Peace on Earth Begins with Birth” This book was such a gift to read! If you love sitting down with a new friend and learning how she has made it to this point in her life, this book will captivate you! Learning the journey in which both Maryn and Margo took to become the women, the mothers, the wives and the midwives that they are today was like sitting down for coffee and a good history lesson.  The birth stories shared belonging to Maryn, herself as well as Margo, herself; plus the birth stories of women whom they’ve had the privilege of walking alongside, captivated me and held me in suspense. The sheer power within confidence stood out to me the most. Powerful women taking back their voices and linking arms with other powerful women in encouragement and confidence.  Throughout every chapter, the heart of Indie Birth’s mission is palpable. I related a lot to Maryn learning her history of coming ...
